A 35-year-old British paratrooper escaped death after the wind changed his parachute course after jumping from a height of 180 feet, equivalent to 14 stories high, to hit a stone cliff.

His parachute was traveling at 30 mph in an attempt to win the title of the first Lord of the Berkeley Heights in Scotland.

The paratrooper suffered injuries and bruises as a result of the collision.

Three people have died from falling this year.
