Hazza Al-Mansouri was selected as the main crew of the mission and Sultan Al-Neyadi was among the alternative crew of the mission and underwent intensive preparation for this mission. Russia is preparing for this mission and has also trained at the European Space Agency's European Astronauts Center.

They also underwent training at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center on various units and components of the US space station and dealing with emergencies, particularly low air pressure or ammonia leak.

The emirate's astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri will shoulder the slogan "Zayed's ambition" during his historic mission, which constitutes a unique model for the nation's youth, called Will, Challenge and Achievement.

"I am proud to be the representative of the United Arab Emirates and also the first representative of the Arab region on the International Space Station." These were the first words of the UAE astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri during a recent press conference held at the Yuri Gagarin Center in Al Nujoom.
