The French health authorities have stopped an unauthorized clinical trial conducted in about 350 patients, especially patients with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, by a controversial doctor who claims to be inspired by God and who is known for his opposition to vaccines.
The National Agency for Drug Surveillance (ANSM, for its acronym in French) has warned of possible "health risks" among patients who underwent this treatment based on skin patches in which a molecule was included "whose quality" , effects and tolerance are not known . "
The clinical trial was led by Dr. Jean-Bernard Fourtillan, a controversial doctor who, on his website, says his knowledge was "revealed" as "a man of faith who loves and listens to God . "
The ANSM has urged him to stop the clinical trial and alert all patients, while bringing the case to justice for these "illegal practices," he said in a statement.
He has also recommended that patients go to their family doctor and undergo a complete check-up to determine possible side effects.
Illegal treatment
Fourtillan applied to the candidates, patients with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other neurological pathologies, skin patches based on a melatonin derivative.
Those responsible proceeded to draw blood from the patients in an abbey near Poitiers, south of Paris, from which they were sent to a laboratory, which was subject to an ANSM inspection, which discovered the existence of the clinical trial.
According to the BFM television network, some of the patients were interned in that abbey, while others spent there one night before their blood was drawn the next morning.
