The Egyptian Ministry of Health has referred a doctor to the investigation after he endangered the life of a patient by leaving a "towel" in her abdomen during the delivery process in his private clinic, Husseiniya Center in Sharkia governorate, north of Cairo, according to the Egyptian newspaper "Sunrise".

The newspaper said that the governor of Sharkia commissioned the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Sharqiya to conduct an urgent medical investigation with the obstetrician and gynecologist after he endangered the life of a patient by leaving a "towel" in the abdomen during the process of delivery in her private clinic.

The Governor, in his statements published by "Sunrise", that the investigations were conducted through the legal bodies of the Directorate of Health Affairs, to take the necessary measures and to transfer the case to the prosecution to not repeat these incidents.

The Governor of Sharkia sent a letter of assurance to the people of the patient, stressing that he will not leave a negligent in his place and will take all legal procedures in cooperation with the Directorate of Health Affairs regarding the incident of medical negligence.

The patient had a Caesarean delivery within the doctor's clinic in the center of Husseinieh, which resulted in the exposure of her life to serious health complications, and another surgery for her hospital "Suez Canal" University, to extract the "towel."
