Regarding the labeling of foods that may cause allergies, the Consumer Affairs Agency is adding new “almonds” to items that recommend labeling and is asking for labeling as much as possible.

For foods that may cause allergies, labeling is required for 7 items such as eggs and wheat, and 20 items such as soy and mackerel are required to be labeled as recommended items. .

In this regard, the Consumer Affairs Agency investigated the recent 4800 allergy cases and found that there were 21 reports of almonds.

For this reason, the Consumer Affairs Agency newly added “almond” to the recommended items for display, and notified prefectures and local governments.

It is the first time in 6 years since 2013 that “Sesame” and “Cashew nuts” were added that are recommended for labeling.

“We would like to encourage consumers who are allergic to display the information early on to the business because it is necessary information,” says Akiko Ito of the Consumer Affairs Agency.
