“An Intelligent in the First Generation”: Vladimir Menshov Celebrates 80th Anniversary

September 17 marks the 80th anniversary of the People's Artist of the RSFSR Vladimir Menshov. Since childhood, he dreamed of a movie, stormed the capital's universities, received his acting education at the Moscow Art Theater School. Later he graduated from VGIK graduate school with a degree in "director of a feature film", which Mikhail Romm organized specially for a talented student. Menshov’s paintings “Raffle” and “Love and Pigeons” became classics of Soviet cinema, and the film “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears”, during which screenings lined up at cinemas, won an Oscar. Now Vladimir Menshov continues to play in series and feature films, teaches directing and acting at VGIK, and also plans to make another own film.
