The first phase of the fifth edition of the Sawa Museum Academy, organized by the Sharjah Museums Authority in collaboration with the National Museums of Berlin, the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region and the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, has been launched until the 25th of this month. , Oman, Jordan, Egypt, and Germany.

The course aims to disseminate and promote museum culture, introduce the importance of museum science and heritage in the life of communities, establish the specialization of museum science in universities, and provide the sector with qualified specialists and experts. Managing Director of Sharjah Museums Authority Manal Ataya said: “Sawa Academy is the first program of its kind in the region in terms of its unique environment that stimulates education. The Sawa Academy, which was launched in Sharjah and Berlin in 2015 and 2016 respectively, is in line with the UAE National Project on Activating Civilizational Dialogue and reflects Sharjah's commitment to education and building a sustainable cultural sector.

The 11-day program of the Academy aims to encourage young museum professionals to exchange experiences and knowledge between different cultures and innovative methods of museum studies, acquire basic skills related to museum science, and manage them from related fields by providing a specialized platform within an integrated interactive program. Interested students and specialists in museum science from the Middle East and Germany can acquire expertise and skills by local, regional and international specialists, and connect with a wide global network in their sector within an attractive learning environment.

The Academy of Museum Science (SWA) is designed to stimulate and encourage joint education between students from the Arab region and Germany through the exchange of experiences and knowledge between different cultures and innovative methods in museum studies in order to gain the basic knowledge and skills related to museum science and museum management from all relevant fields, The program offers a team of experts and trainers from Germany and the UAE, who collaborate to develop curriculum modules, taking into account the different local practices in museums.
