Fernando Magellan is the commander of the first expedition cruising the globe, which crossed the Atlantic to the Pacific. Born in 1480, Portuguese navigator Fernando Magellan studied cartography and navigation. In his twenties, he joined navy fleets and participated in several battles.

In 1519, with the support of the Roman Emperor Charles V, Magellan began the journey of searching for a better route to India's spice islands, forming a fleet of ships 500 years ago. Magellan sailed from Spain where he did not survive, but his ship Victoria completed the first voyage around Earth
