The designer Andrés Sardá has passed away at the age of 90 in Barcelona. The fashion world says goodbye today to one of the pioneers in climbing the catwalks, national and international, underwear.

Andrés Sardá, a textile engineer belonging to a family linked to the weaving industry since the end of the 19th century, created his own company in the 60s. And his intention, from the first moment, was to break the rules by rethinking the conventions that existed then on Underwear.

Sardá dressed women with the softest fabrics, the lightest shapes and the most innovative colors, because the designer was clear: the lingerie could be delicate, flattering and sensual. But, in addition to aesthetics, he never neglected the latest technologies or stopped innovating in materials, being one of the pioneers also in the use of Lycra fiber for his collections.

But the lingerie that so many joys gave him also gave way to the bathroom, and his collections of swimsuits and bikinis expanded the dream proposals that every season Sardá climbed the catwalks, in one of the most anticipated parades of each edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid

The luxury fashion sector recognized his career with awards such as the Creator of the Year of the Salon de la Lingerie in Paris or the National Fashion Award granted by SM Queen Letizia in 2015. A trail that Andrés Sardá left in the hands of his daughter Núria, who since 1998 is the face and brain at the head of the firm.
