A homeowner near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, blew up his house on his daughter's wedding day after finding his body in the rubble late on Saturday, police said.

Authorities said the man was seen standing in front of his house shortly before the explosion and fire broke out, and devoured the entire house, according to the Associated Press of America.

Authorities declared the man's death a suicide.

Police chief Robert Payne said officials were still investigating the cause of the explosion, but "it seems the man has disconnected the gas line in the basement of the house."

Officials said most of the family members were outside the house at the time to attend the wedding.

Police said they had gone home earlier because of domestic issues related to mental illness.
