Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Art Foundation and the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth, said that the festival has become an artistic phenomenon and an event awaited by those interested in the filmmaking industry, noting that the seventh festival will be held during the period from 13 to 18 October Sharjah will celebrate the title of 'World Book Capital 2019'.

The festival, organized by the Art Foundation to promote and support media art for children and young people in the country, announced that its new session will witness the participation of a wide range of stars and Arab and international filmmakers.

This year's edition will focus on presenting film-inspired works to celebrate Sharjah's access to the World Book Capital, the world's most prestigious cultural title, which was crowned by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and to emphasize the importance of the book and its role in The art industry, and the upgrading of it, especially that the reality of cinema is full of many timeless works inspired by books.

The festival allows film enthusiasts to compete for its awards in the seven categories that it offers: “Best Children and Youth Made”, “Best Student Made”, “Best Gulf Short Film”, “Best International Short Film”, "Best animated film", "Best feature film", and "Best documentary".

Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi added: “Over the past years, the festival has transformed itself from a cultural event for the development of children's cinema creations to an event for all those interested in making high quality films that inspire children, adolescents and young people alike, to motivate them to master the basics of art. The seventh, thus constituting an exceptional state of art capable of changing the local and Arab cinema scene ». She continued: `` The event translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who directed the inclusion of young people as a target group at the festival, for believing their energy and artistic competencies in completing the march of cinema creativity with an Arab footprint reflecting our identity, culture and values. She pointed out that the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth integrates with the cultural and artistic activities sponsored by Sharjah, based on the Emirate's approach to building human beings and promoting their values ​​with knowledge, and to embed sound principles in his thought and behavior, to be able to see the world with the eyes of the creative artist.
