The funeral contractor: "Words are an incredible help to move on"
Newspaper death advertisements are often adorned with poetry, and so it has been for almost 100 years. But it was not until early September this year that an agreement was signed that gives poets the right to compensation for their works. That after the Swedish funeral home's association and the organization Literary Rights Administration in Sweden agreed.
According to statistics from the Swedish Funeral Home Association, which collects 430 funeral homes during the summer, male Swedish poetry cannon dominated. It with author names such as Dan Andersson, Pär Lagerqvist, Alf Henriksson and Nils Ferlin at the top.
