George Vilinbachov was named Officer of the Order of Orange Nassau on Thursday. He received the award for, among other things, his important contribution to the creation and development of the Hermitage Amsterdam. He receives the award from deputy mayor Marjolein Moorman.
Vilinbachov has been working for the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg for fifty years and has been Deputy Director since 1998. In the Netherlands he organized exhibitions in collaboration with De Nieuwe Kerk, the Amsterdams Historisch Museum and the Hermitage Amsterdam. Among other things, he contributed to the exhibitions The end of a monarchy , Peter the Great: an inspired Tsar and Dutch Masters from the Hermitage .
The royal honor is awarded in honor of the 10-year anniversary of the Hermitage Amsterdam. The award is given to people who have been personally committed to society, the state or the Royal Family for a long time.
