Lebanese director Simon Asmar died at the age of 76 after a long illness, according to Al Arabiya.

Al-Asmar was named "Star Maker" and came out with a batch of the most important artists in Lebanon through the program "Studio of Art" such as Majida El Roumi, Mona Marashly, Walid Tawfiq, Abdel Karim El Shaar, Nihad Fattouh, Nawal Al Zoghbi, Wael Kfoury, Assi El Helani, Ragheb Alama, Abdel Ghani Talis, Moein. Sharif, Elissa, Maya Diab, Myriam Fares, Nishan, Giselle Khoury, Ziad Burji, Maya Nasri, Faris Karam, Nidal Al Ahmadiya, Abdo Yaghi, Rabie El Khouly, Mary Suleiman, Zein Al Omar, Nicola Saadeh Nakhla, Jean-Marie Riachi, Ghassan Saliba, Lilian Andraos, Rudy Mercy.

Al-Asmar received more than 20 awards in Lebanon and around the world, including the "Best Television Creator" in 1994, and the Sydney Key Award in Australia the same year.

The Encyclopedia presented him with the International Year of the Year award in 1997, and in 2003, on the occasion of 44 years of his artistic services, he was honored by the Commemoration Committees of the East Giants and the Friends of Simon Asmar.
