Despite government announcements, emergency workers on Tuesday called for the strike to continue. In Montauban, caregivers can not take it anymore and want more staff.

REPORTAGE

In the urgencies of Montauban, the affluence has doubled in fifteen years. For more than three months, most carers have been on strike, as in most of France. This service, which welcomes as many patients as the hospital Rangueil in Toulouse with half the staff, is now saturated. Europe 1 went on the spot, while the strikers voted Tuesday for the continuation of the movement, the day after the announcements of the government to try to end the crisis.

"I can not split myself"

At the reception, Laëtitia is alone to manage the arrival of patients who present themselves spontaneously, or accompanied by firefighters. The nurse must define, alone, those who will be treated in priority. But, as often, she is completely overwhelmed.

"When I'm busy welcoming a person who comes with the fire department, I can not duplicate myself, when there is no more room, we will keep these patients in the corridors or at the reception for a long time. 'We do not do our job properly,' she grieves.

"If patients wait, it's not because we're on strike"

With her colleagues, the nurse has been on strike for more than three months. On her t-shirt, she wears a mention 'Emergencies are in danger'. Despite this difficult context, all continue their work, a situation not always easy to manage.

"What is heavy is the guilt of the caregivers." We are in solidarity with the strike, we wear armbands to say it, but if patients wait, it is not because we are on strike. strike because patients are waiting, "summarizes Manuelle Adaber, delegate CGT.

The plan of "refoundation" emergencies, presented Monday by Agnès Buzyn, did not calm their anger. For beyond the announcements of the Minister of Health, they are especially demanding more staff to cope with the influx of patients.
