Empress Emery is undergoing surgery to remove breast cancer at the University of Tokyo Hospital in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo on the 8th.
The empress, who was admitted to the University of Tokyo on the 7th, moved to the operating room from around 10am on the 8th, and has undergone surgery to remove breast cancer.
The emperor found a tumor in the left mammary gland during a medical checkup in July, and was later diagnosed with relatively early breast cancer.
The stage that indicates the degree of cancer progression is 1, which means that there is no obvious metastasis.
The operation is performed with general anesthesia in cooperation with the prefectural Shizuoka Cancer Center and the mammary gland surgeons at the University of Tokyo.
On the other hand, before the operation, the Emperor arrived at the hospital before 9:30 am and greeted with the director and headed to the Empress's room.
The eldest daughter Kiyoko Kuroda was also visiting the hospital, and the Emperor was accompanied by Empress Empress who went to the operating room with Kuroda-san.
The Imperial Household is expected to be discharged in a few days if it is going well, and the Imperial Household Agency will announce the results of the surgery on the evening of the 8th.
