Superstar since the beginning of the 70s, few artists have managed to sign resounding successes in five decades as Camilo Sesto, the first Spanish with a platinum record and author of dozens of number one.

His first big success

Two years after participating in the popular Spanish Television contest Jump to Fame and a brief career with the Los Botines group in the 60s, his solo career has his first major success in 1971 with his first album, Something of Me .

The OTI festival and its leap to Latin America

In 1972 he represents Spain at the International Festival of the OTI, with Something else , by Juan Carlos Calderón, a best-selling song that manages to make the leap to all of Latin America, where from then on he would also become a mass idol.

The great international success

The great international consolidation comes to him in 1974 with Help Me and You Want to be my lover , two singles with which he gets the top positions both in the lists of Spain and Latin America.

'Jesus Christ Superstar'

In 1975 the Spanish version of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar opens in Madrid, in which Camilo gives life to Jesus. This show, for which he is still remembered and which was the first great musical represented in Spain, received high praise from the critics.

To live like this is to die of love

In 1978 Camilo Sesto publishes the album Sentimientos, tenth of his career and the best selling of his discography. The work began with one of his best known songs, Living itself is dying of love , an intergenerational hit .

Critics Award in the USA

In 1983 he recorded in London Dawn , which earned him the recognition of the ACE award of the Association of Hispanic Critics of New York.

'Mola mazo', the reconnection with a new generation

After a year of recovery when undergoing a liver transplant, in 2002 he released the album Alma with the popular Mola mazo , a topic with which he tried to meet again with the young audience after four decades of career.

Symphonic legacy

In November 2018, Camilo symphonic was published, a legacy of his entire career recorded with the RTVE Orchestra and collaborations of Marta Sánchez, Pastora Soler, Ruth Lorenzo and Mónica Naranjo. Precisely on September 13, the publication of a vinyl edition of this work was planned.
