More than a hundred well-known and unknown Dutch people contributed to the creative concept of the Eurovision Song Contest, which is currently being finalized.

The so-called 'Magic 100' was asked to think about how the Eurovision Song Contest could be done better and differently. For example, telephone interviews were held with famous people from Dutch music, culture, politics, fashion and media. Street interviews were also held.

"We didn't want to come up with the concept for this Eurovision Song Contest in a meeting room in Hilversum," says Sietse Bakker, the executive producer of the event.

This is why Rotterdam has won the Eurovision contest

"The Dutch are creative, certainly in the field of making television"

"Precisely because we are putting the Netherlands in the spotlight internationally with this event, we decided at an early stage to first listen very carefully." Bakker wants the Song Festival to be an event "in which the Netherlands recognizes itself and that Europe surprises positively".

"The Dutch are creative, especially when it comes to making television and organizing events," says Bakker. "We have chosen to use that creativity to take the event to a higher level in 2020."

Last week it was announced that the Song Festival will be held on 12, 14 and 16 May in Rotterdam.
