"Swan Boat Race" at Lake Chuzenji Tochigi Nikko September 5 15:07

The “Swan Boat Race” was held at Lake Chuzenji in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture.

This race is held every year during this period, as foreigners who visited the Lake Chuzenji during the Taisho period enjoyed racing on yachts and handboats.

On the 5th, about 250 people, including family members and friends, participated, and the race was held in a 20-seater three-seater swan boat shaped like a swan.

Participants struggled with pedals and turned back about 300 meters off the shore, aiming for the pier of the goal, but some boats struggled by the wind were also seen.

And when the boats came close to the goal while competing, cheers were sent from the family watching on the shore and other participants.

A woman in her 40s who participated with two friends from the prefecture said, “I'm tired, but I enjoyed it with a refreshing feeling. I want to participate again next year.”
