This year's celebration coincides with the 'Year of Tolerance', which saw the launch of several humanitarian and charitable initiatives such as 'Watering the Hope', 'The UAE Campaign for Rohingya Children and Women' and other initiatives that have received social and media interaction, reflecting the root values ​​of tolerance and philanthropy in the UAE culture. The UAE attaches great importance to philanthropy as a human value based on giving and giving in all its forms. Today it is one of the few countries that has translated the meaning of wealth into human thought and participation involving the whole world without any support or investment in a narrow interest.

For many years, the UAE was the world's largest donor of foreign aid relative to its national income, accounting for 1.31 per cent of its total income, double the 0.7 per cent required by the United Nations.

The UAE was one of the first countries to quickly organize and institutionalize philanthropy by setting up all legislative and executive frameworks to ensure flexibility and speed of movement, in addition to opening the way for all segments of society to contribute to charity through various means including volunteering, donation and payment of Zakat.

The UAE Red Crescent Authority is one of the leading humanitarian charities that is proud of its strong partnership with benefactors and philanthropists, citizens and residents of the UAE, and is proud of their support and support, which has had the most impact in all areas of humanitarian work and achieve many achievements.

The number of beneficiaries of local programs and assistance implemented by the Authority in the first half of this year amounted to 562,589 people of different nationalities, at a total cost of 94 million dirhams.

The agency sponsors more than 114,000 orphans in the UAE and in 25 countries around the world, while its Ramadan programs and projects benefit more than 11 million people in 80 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

The Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation is one of the most prominent arms in the UAE. Since its inception in 1992, the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation has provided assistance to more than 166 countries worldwide with a total value of nearly AED 2 billion.

The Foundation's assistance was concentrated in various sectors, most notably health, education and relief, as well as the establishment of cultural and humanitarian centers, scientific research, schools, public and higher education institutes and public libraries.

The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation is one of the most prominent charitable organizations that have contributed to strengthening the UAE's position on the map of humanitarian action regionally and globally.

In 2018 alone, the Foundation provided assistance to more than 90 countries around the world to achieve a quantum leap in its humanitarian, charitable and development work.

The number of beneficiaries of the Foundation's humanitarian and relief projects and programs in 2018 reached 11.9 million people worldwide, while the total expenditure during the initiatives, programs and projects in this field reached about 271 million dirhams.
