The income of recorded music in Spain grew by 26.9% in the first half of 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year, which is the largest increase experienced by this industry since the beginning of the century .

The Spanish invested almost 140.7 million euros in online listening and physical media, an amount that exceeds that of the first half of 2018. That semester closed at 110.9 million euros. This new positive balance confirms an uninterrupted trend since 2014, according to data from Promusicae , the main association of the country's record companies.

According to Promusicae's analysis, the recovery of the music market in Spain owes its rise to unstoppable streaming positioning. Subscriptions to platforms such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Google Play, Spotify, and the like represented between January and June a disbursement of 78 million euros, 41% more than in the same period of 2018. Payment streaming is the main asset in the income statement, but the figures for advertising revenue for users of free access also show a 24.4% rebound.

The first evidence of a clear consumer acceptance of this model was produced for the first time in 2015, but now it is evident: 76.8% of the revenue for the Spanish industry comes from the online world.

On the other hand, music on physical support has also had good results. Above all, in the LP format. In what we have of 2019 sales have been registered with a value of 7.7 million euros. Vinyl, which seemed an option extinguished a decade ago, now has a 24% presence, that is, a quarter of the physical market.

In the case of the CD, a format that had registered decreasing numbers in recent years, the Spanish allocated 24.1 million to buy compact discs between January 1 and June 30, 9.7% more than in the season previous.

Antonio Guisasola , the president of Promusicae, described the figures presented as "excellent" and highlighted the role that the recorded music industry has played in the results obtained. "In all these years a new industrial fabric has been created that now works at full capacity, despite the difficulties involved in having such a high piracy rate," he said.
