The competition will be held next year in Linköping, Gothenburg, Luleå, Malmö, Eskilstuna and Stockholm. For Eskilstuna, it will be premiere to arrange the party. This is the first time the new trio David Sundin, Linnea Henriksson and Lina Hedlund program director. Lina Hedlund participated in this year's edition of Mello and reached the final, which John Lundvik then won.
In a press release from SVT, Lina Hedlund says that for many years it has been a dream for her to program the competition.
"I have competed six times (2002, 2003, 2009, 2010, 2014, 2019) and intermediate act (2013 and 2017), so getting into this new role in this context feels tremendously fun!", Hedlund said in the announcement.
Linnea Henriksson describes the mission as "the world's greatest honor" and David Sundin says that his first thought when asked was "FINALLY".
In 2019 the Melody Festival was hosted by Marika Carlsson, Eric Saade, Kodjo Akolor and Sarah Dawn Finer.
The first competition will be held on February 1st and the final on March 7, 2020.
