The chirigotero Manolo Santander , popular for being the creator of the pasodoble that would become the official anthem of Cádiz CF, 'I have been told that yellow', has died this morning because of a long illness.

Manolo Santander won the first prize in the last Contest of the Gran Teatro Falla with the chirigota 'La maldición de lapa negra', reports the Diario de Cádiz.

His career adds more than three decades, since it was released in 1981 with 'Las aces del jazz'. In 1996 he released another of his best-known chirigotas, 'The Pepperoni family', which came in fourth place.

It was in 2000 when he won his first solo prize, with the chirigota 'Los de Capuchinos', following the Diario de Cádiz.

The news of his death comes a few months after another tragedy for the Carnival of Cádiz: the death of also the author of chirigotas Juan Carlos Aragón Becerra last May.
