Gunma Tomioka September 3, 14:48 for payment of smartphone payment at city hall window

As payments using smartphones spread, Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture introduced smartphone payments from the third day for payment of fees at the counter of the city hall.

Tomioka City introduced "LINE Pay", a payment service provided by "LINE" from the 3rd, in addition to the existing cash when paying issuance fees such as resident card and income certificate.

The user can read the QR code placed at the counter using a smartphone and enter the amount to complete the payment.

According to LINE, this is the fourth case in the Kanto region following Tokyo Shibuya Ward, Sagamihara City, and Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture.

In Tomioka City, where the World Heritage Tomioka Silk Mill is located, we want to promote cashlessness throughout the city to improve the convenience of tourists.

“In the future, I would like to improve the services of residents, including tourists and migrants,” said Mayor Yoshinori Enomoto of Tomioka City.

The Tomioka City Hall plans to support other companies' smartphone payments in the future.
