The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi is launching the inaugural season of the Cultural Park in Al Hosn Area, starting from the fourth of September, which includes exhibitions, workshops and artistic events.

Experimental approach

The inaugural season starts with Najat Makki: Illuminations, a solo exhibition featuring a collection of works by Emirati artist Najat Makki, held in the main hall and on the ground floor of the Cultural Complex, inviting visitors to learn about the experimental and open approach adopted by Najat Makki in its approach to geographic narratives. In January, the Cultural Complex will host the exhibition "Red Palace" by the artist Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Nasser Al Saud, coming from the Saudi capital Riyadh.

The exhibition, which runs from January 20 to April 1, will shed light on the Red Palace, which dates back to the 20th century and highlights its role in the Kingdom's prominent political and historical events during that era. The exhibition contains a collection of commemorative and archaeological collections, and other pieces coming from various locations.

The artist also created with his own a collection of sculptural and synthetic works, which explore the ability of this historic landmark to rise again from the ruins of the destruction, and to restore its prominent role within the community scene in Saudi Arabia.

"Dedication"

In support of local artists, the Cultural Complex will dedicate two spaces on the first floor to host community exhibitions. The opening season will host the first art exhibition titled “Dedication: Celebrating Najat Makki” with the participation of 19 Emirati artists.

The exhibition brings together three different generations of Emirati artists under one roof, from the 1970s to the 1990s.
