Australian researchers have discovered a medical technique that helps stimulate the human immune system to become better able to cope with cancer.

According to the newspaper "Daily Mail" Britain, this medical research focused on the cells "NK", which is described as "natural killer", because they fight cancer tumors automatically.

But sometimes these beneficial cells do not do their job, because a protein known as "Activin a" blocks them.

When these biocytes are unable to fight tumors, the disease increases in the body.

The study was carried out by researchers at the University of Queensland and the Monash Institute of Biomedical Research.

Researcher Nicholas Huntington said the findings opened the door for a shift in immunotherapy drugs.

He added that what was discovered allows to overcome the immunity shown by cancerous tumor in humans, when the stage of treatment begins.

The researchers hope to develop an effective treatment for cancer, given the high number of patients with malignant disease in most countries of the world.

Data from the British Cancer Research Center show that one in two children born after 1960 will develop cancer at some point in life. In the United States, 1.7 million new cases have been diagnosed in the past year.

In the race, researchers did not know the obstacles to NK cells' role in fighting the tumor, and it remained a mystery.

Today, it turns out that the protein is responsible for obstruction, a protein found in healthy and malignant cells in the human body.

This protein cuts down an important enzyme needed by beneficial cells to begin fighting cancerous tumors in the body.
