At around 7:20 in the morning of 28th, a friend's fishing boat reported that a swordfish drifting fishing boat “38th Junei Maru” (19 tons) belonging to the Miyagi Prefectural Fishery Cooperative Karakuwa Branch lost contact during operation.

Later, the Coast Guard aircraft we were searching for discovered seven crew members on a ship that had been capsized in the Pacific Ocean approximately 110 kilometers south of Kushiro, and all were rescued after 11 am.

Neither is injured.

Seven people who were rescued were three Japanese and four Indonesian, and arrived at Kushiro Port on a patrol boat before 3:00 pm.

Seven people got into the car and moved to the Coast Guard while calling out to the crew of another fishing boat belonging to the same Karakuwa branch who rushed to the port.

A man from the Karakuwa branch who welcomed the crew said, “I was surprised when I heard it was overturned. It was fortunate that my life was saved.
