The masterpiece - so called Jon McNaughton's painting of Donald Trump, portrayed sitting on a chair in a cathedral with a color palette in his hand. Behind him, the president has a blackboard covered with a red cloth that he is about to lift, and the board appears to be in the style of a work by the French impressionist Monet.
According to McNaughton, the board is a synonym for Trump's presidency: "How will this presidency be remembered? I think it will be considered a masterpiece, ”McNaughton writes on Twitter.
Painting in a church?Other tweeters were not late to comment on the work, as American Artnet reported.
Why does Trump keep a palette if the painting is finished and covered with a canvas? Why does he sit and paint in a church? And last but not least: what is holding up the palette? Surely it is not - his penis?
Only a few of the questions are asked over and over on Twitter. Many also make their own versions of the board. A popular variation is to replace the painting itself in the picture, and instead of a Monet replace it with Edvard Munchs Skriet, a picture of North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Un or the Spanish ap restoration, for example.
