"Bull"

Last summer, for the first time in ten years, the Kinotavr Grand Prix went to the debutant: Boris Akopov, a graduate of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography, received the main prize for the drama about the 1990s, Bull.

Nicknamed Byk, Anton Bykov lives in a small town near Moscow and leads one of the youth criminal gangs working there. After a brawl on one of the “shooters”, Bykov ends up in the police. It seems that now he has one road - to prison. However, thanks to the intercession of a familiar criminal authority, the young man manages to leave the site. Now the Bull must “pay the debt” and help the elder comrade in one difficult and dangerous business.

Work on the picture was carried out for two years. In an interview, Akopov recalled that he had written the “Bull” script for four months - while he was thinking, “what to do after he graduated from high school”.

Abigail

The film takes place in a city whose borders have been closed for many years due to a mysterious epidemic that erupted in it. In fact, the ability to magic, which some citizens have, is considered a rage. “Infected” are sent to the detention center by the ministers of the Special Department of the city. This happens with the father of little Abigail. After many years, the girl herself will discover an unusual talent in herself and go in search of a parent.

The company KD Studios (formerly known as Kinodanz) continues to master the field of teenage paintings about wizards. This time she releases a film in the dystopian genre with elements of steampunk. The production of the tape was done by Alexander Boguslavsky, who in the past released the film “Beyond Reality” with Antonio Banderas.

The role of Abigail Foster went to the Georgian actress Tinatin Dalakishvili (“About love. Only for adults”), and her father to the Briton Eddie Marsan (“Illusionist”, “Dirt”). Rinal Mukhametov, Ravshan Kurkov and Artyom Tkachenko also played in the film.

The Fall of an Angel (Angel Has Fallen)

“The Fall of the Angel” is the third film in which Gerard Butler played the role of the US Secret Service agent Mike Banning (the first two films are “The Fall of Olympus” and “The Fall of London”). Morgan Freeman returned to the role of Allan Trumbull. The picture was directed by the author of the "Snitch" with Dwayne Johnson, Rick Roman Waugh.

Mike Banning is now out of favor: the recent assassination attempt on the president, because of a series of evidence, looks like a conspiracy that is behind Banning. Only the head of state can prove the innocence of a bodyguard, but he is in a state of coma. Benning decides not to wait until the FBI agents come for him, and independently investigates this matter.

"Difficulties of Survival"

Journalist Nina, on an editorial assignment, sets off from Moscow to an island somewhere in the south of Russia to find an asceticist young millionaire there. However, the hermit on the island is just a “newspaper duck” invented by a local journalist. Nina understands this only when she is stuck with a colleague on a desert island.

"Difficulties in Survival" is a new project by the producers of the comedy - Kinotavr laureate "The Good Boy" by Vasily Solovyov and Yuri Khrapov. The main roles in the film were played by Elizaveta Kononova (“Ordinary Woman”), Vasily Brichenko (“Betrayal”) and Yan Tsapnik (“Phantom”).


Trap (Crawl)


A powerful hurricane is approaching Florida. The authorities are evacuating the population, but Haley ignores the demands to leave the state and tries to find a father who for some reason does not get in touch. Divine Love (Divino Amor)

Since August 22 in theaters - the festival drama of the Brazilian director Gabriel Mascaro "Divine Love". The film premiered at the Sundance Independent Film Show in January 2019. The picture was also shown at the Berlinale. Critics say that Mascaro in the film explicitly reflects on the political events in Brazil.

Melissa's family is still practicing voodoo, and this interested the girl Fanny. With the help of witchcraft, Fanny decides to heal spiritual wounds.

“Light of My Life”

Casey Affleck’s post-apocalyptic drama “The Light of My Life” takes place in a world where a terrible epidemic claimed the lives of most women a few years ago. Affleck's hero and his daughter Reg, who survived thanks to their immunity to the disease, move in search of shelter across the devastated land. The father is forced to hide the sex of the child from everyone.

“The Light of My Life” is the second full-length picture of Affleck Jr. The world premiere of the film took place at the Berlin Film Festival in February.


“Being Harvey Weinstein” (Untouchable)

In 2017, a number of Hollywood actresses, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Ashley Judd, accused the American producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment. Subsequent events launched a wave of #MeToo movement. Weinstein was soon fired from the company he founded, and also expelled from the British and American film academies and deprived of the Legion of Honor.
