The Spanish former king Juan Carlos has to undergo a heart operation next Saturday. That reports the Spanish news medium ABC .
The former head of state allegedly received a medical check-up in June to be operated on at his heart. The announced procedure is therefore a planned intervention.
Since his abdication in 2014, Juan Carlos can no longer be seen in public because of his poor health. For example, he has had surgery on his knees and hips several times, making him less able to move.
His many alleged extra-marital relationships were also a reason for him to shun publicity more and more, except on official occasions when his presence was required.
Earlier this month, the former king was still present at a sailing competition in Finland. He used to sail at a high level. He participated in the 1972 Olympic Games.
