'Pain and glory', by Pedro Almodóvar ; 'While the war lasts', by Alejandro Amenábar ; and 'Buñuel in the labyrinth of the turtles', by Salvador Simó : these are the three films shortlisted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain to represent Spain in the next edition of the Oscars. This was announced on Wednesday at the Academy headquarters, in an act in which actors Gretya Fernández and Jesús Vidal have read the shortlisted titles.

On September 5, the one that finally opts for the award for the best non-English-speaking film will be known, although all eyes are on Pedro Almodóvar's film. Actually, the only question that was left to clear was what production would accompany 'Pain and glory' and 'While the war lasts'. Finally, it was Simó's film about the filming of 'Las Hurdes: Tierra sin pan', in which animation and real image are mixed.
