US President Donald Trump on Monday published a satirical photo of a Trump-branded hotel on the territory of Greenland, the world's largest island.

"I promise you not to do it for Greenland," Trump said in a comment posted next to the modified photo using Photoshop.

The tweet comes after Danish Prime Minister Mitt Frederiksen and Greenland Prime Minister Kim Kelsen announced that the autonomous Danish island of Greenland was not for sale after Trump expressed interest in buying the Arctic island.
"Nobody should impose our decision on us, we must be respected, and our interests should always be at the forefront," Kelson told a news conference earlier.

Trump on Sunday confirmed his administration's interest in buying the Danish island, sparking angry reactions.

The US president is scheduled to visit Denmark next month and is expected to hold a meeting with Queen of Denmark, Margaret II.

The United States sought to buy the island during the twentieth century, a move that was then rejected by Denmark.
