The heat of the summer and blood donation do not go together for many who fear that high temperatures will make them feel dizzy after donating blood.

But medical experts say there is no increased risk as long as the donor drinks enough fluids, and most people can manage the heat after donating blood.

In fact, because of this intense fear of donating blood on hot days, the summer months are a good time to visit the dispensary. Blood transfusion experts at the German Society for Transfusion Medicine say that the blood supply in hospitals and rescue equipment is dwindling during summer holidays.

But do not confuse too much fluid with too much food. Overeating and exhausting yourself will make the donor feel dizzy.
