The Saudi Minister of Culture, Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, directed the ministry to establish arts academies as part of the quality of life program initiatives, in line with the directives of the leadership in building and developing human beings, in line with the ministry's vision and directions to contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's vision.

He said that investment in capacity building is one of the most important elements of encouraging the cultural sector, adding that `` the Kingdom is rich in rich and varied arts, talents and artistic production '', pointing out that arts academies will be the beginning of academic rehabilitation within the Kingdom.

The two academies of art will begin in the first phase, one specialized in heritage, traditional arts and crafts, and will start receiving applications in the fall of 2020 and target 1000 students and trainees in long and short-term programs. The second academy will be dedicated to music and will welcome 1,000 students and trainees from 2021.

The two academies are among the 27 initiatives announced by the Ministry of Culture as a first package, in an effort to provide the cultural sector with distinctive outputs.
