Scientists from the University of Bristol have identified gene activity in swollen tissues with eight cancers related to obesity, stressing that overweight and obesity double the risk of many cancers developing at least twice.

The researchers used the method of randomization, which is to measure the normal distribution of genes, and allows to determine the role of this factor or that in the development of the disease, to reveal the relationship between cause and effect.

In this study, the researchers determined the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and the risk of disease progression, after excluding genes that contribute to obesity and tumor formation.

It is estimated that 6% of all cancers in developed countries are caused by excess weight.

But the results of the new study showed that the role of overweight and obesity is much greater.
