The national tournament of the folk song “Yasugi”, known for the dance of “Dojo Sukui”, was held in Yasugi City, Shimane Prefecture, and the participants showed off their famous songs and dances.
“Yasugi-bushi” is a folk song that has been transmitted to the Yasugi region of Shimane Prefecture since the end of the Edo period.
The national tournament was held on the 15th of the local preservatives, and more than 750 men and women from 6 to 83 years old who passed the qualifying of each region participated. People with high “instructor” qualifications were screened.
Among them, in the “Tsubaki no Tobe”, the contestants gave a fistful voice to the rhythm of the shamisen and received great applause from the audience.
A 75-year-old man in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, who has been praising Yasugi for more than 30 years, said, “I was worried that I could catch a cold and speak well, but I was relieved to finish it safely.”
Also, the 28-year-old woman from Iinan-cho, Shimane Prefecture, who showed the spelling, said, “It ’s a high-level tournament, so it ’s very stimulating. I want to do my best.”
