More than 80 films are competing for the prizes of the third El Gouna Film Festival, which starts next September.

The festival's management will unveil the names and nationalities of the competing films, along with parallel programs, training workshops, and discussion sessions, which will be held on 26th in Cairo.

The festival, which was launched for the first time in 2017 in the tourist city of El Gouna on the Red Sea, attracted major Arab and foreign filmmakers and stars and presented the latest films produced in the region.

The third session will be held from September 19 to 27.

The festival's management said yesterday that the third session aims to "bring together filmmakers in the region with their counterparts from all countries of the world, with the aim of developing the spirit of cultural exchange among them by presenting their best cinematic creations."

The festival will be attended by businessman Naguib Sawiris, founder of the festival, his brother Samih Sawiris, founder and sponsor of the festival, the festival's executive director Amr Mansi, the festival's director Anchal Tamimi, along with Tourism Minister Rania El-Mashat and Culture Minister Ines Abdel Dayem. Mina Massoud, who participated in Disney's Disney movie "Aladdin," is a former Egyptian host.

The festival recently revealed the hosting of the Canadian actor of Egyptian origin Mina Massoud.
