Nicolas Carreau puts literature in the spotlight, every day of August in Le grand journal du soir, between 18h and 20h. Wednesday is the day of audio books: "Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck.

A magnificent novel, short, which must make a hundred pages. I was curious to know how the audio version was, because the book is written in a very oral style.

The crisis of the 1930s

We follow two friends: George and Lenny. They go from farm to farm in search of work. We are in the United States in the 1930s, it's the big crisis. George is a brave guy, brave, he is dry and small and always accompanied by Lenny. He is tall, very strong, shoulders drooping, a little silly, but nice. He is delayed, but fortunately George watches over him and especially him avoids trouble. Because Lenny does not control his strength. He loves mice, for example, but he chokes them in his big hands. He hurts, unwittingly. A ranch wants to give them a bit of work. They go there, but everything will not happen as planned ...

In the audio version, we find many actors who play the dialogues, Jacques Gamblin, for example, but also Lorànt Deutsch. A very good version, found on audible.fr. Only 3:15 is short for an audiobook.
