Jeffrey Epstein: alleged victim of US multimillionaire Epstein files lawsuit

A young woman filed a lawsuit against Jeffrey Epstein's heirs and confidants. She was furious that the accused himself does not have to answer in court.

Following the death of multi-millionaire Jeffrey Epstein, charged with sex crimes, one of his alleged victims filed suit. "I'm angry that he does not have to personally answer me in court, but my quest for justice is just beginning," wrote Jennifer Araoz in a column for The New York Times . She seeks damages from Epstein's heirs and alleged accomplices.

Epstein was found dead in his prison cell on Saturday morning at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York's Manhattan neighborhood. According to the Ministry of Justice, he apparently committed suicide. The 66-year-old is said to have sexually abused young girls and women for years and instigated prostitution. According to the indictment, he built between 2002 and 2005 in New York and Florida on an illegal sex trade ring. In a conviction, the former investment banker, who had good contacts with high-ranking politicians and celebrities, threatened up to 45 years in prison. Epstein should have stayed in the detention center until the beginning of his trial. The court preliminarily set the trial preliminarily at the beginning of June 2020.

32-year-old Jennifer Araoz accuses Epstein of raping her in 2002. Against his heirs, his alleged ally Ghislaine Maxwell and three other unnamed women, she filed a lawsuit before the New York State Supreme Court.

New law allows lawsuit even after many years

A law in New York State that came into effect on Wednesday made Araoz's lawsuit possible. It gives victims of long-term sex crimes one year to initiate legal action. The new law could result in a full-scale lawsuit against Epstein and his alleged accomplices.

According to Araoz, one of Epstein's assistants approached her from her New York school at the age of 14, promising her that the billionaire could help her to pursue an acting career. The first meetings in the luxury apartment of the former bankers in Manhattan were therefore without incident. Epstein talked to her for an hour or two and gave her $ 300 in cash, Araoz said.

But after a few weeks he asked her to massage him and take off her top. The attacks had become worse, at some point he raped her. She had stopped the visits and changed schools. Only after years could she talk about the abuse.

57-year-old is now considered the main suspect

Ghislaine Maxwell is the daughter of the late British media mogul Robert Maxwell. It is after the death of Epstein as the main suspect. Several victims accuse the 57-year-old, she has actively recruited young girls to satisfy Epstein's sexual desire. She has been diving for months. The British newspaper The Daily Mail reported Wednesday that Maxwell is in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts.

Meanwhile, according to US media reports, new findings on the death circumstances of the multimillionaire. During the night of Saturday, Epstein's prison guards slept three hours, the New York Times reported , citing the detention center officials. Actually, they should have looked at Epstein every 30 minutes. In order to cover up their misconduct, they subsequently falsified a protocol.
