According to several testimonies, Plácido Domingo, director of the Los Angeles Opera and Washington Opera in the United States, has exposed female colleagues to unwelcome and repeated sexual encounters. This is stated in a review by the news agency AP.

In the investigation, nine women - one of whom appears by name - claim that they have been sexually harassed by Domingo, according to the AP. The opera star denies the allegations which he believes are "deeply troubling and, as they are presented, inaccurate".

Investigates the charges

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Opera stated on its website and announced that, with the help of outside attorneys, they will investigate the charges brought against Domingo. "It is crucial that the opera employees feel safe in their workplace," they wrote in the statement.

The San Francisco Opera is also taking steps and canceling a planned concert with Plácido Domingo in October, the AP writes.

Concert is canceled

The Philadelphia Orchestra has also withdrawn an invitation to have the opera star as a guest during its opening concert in September. "We want to provide a safe, supportive, respectful and appropriate environment for the orchestra and staff, for artists and composers and for our audience," they write on Twitter.
