A young man who killed his sister asphyxiated because of his "password" was sentenced to life in Alabama.

Kevon Watkins, a 16-year-old from Georgia, changed the Wi-Fi password at home after internet speeds became slow due to consumption by the whole family and the inability to use Internet-connected video games.

When his mother tried to remove the video game from his room, his 19-year-old sister, Alexis Watkins, stepped in, fearing that the dispute would develop, and then Kevon put his hands around his sister's neck and did not leave her for at least 10 minutes.

The police arrived home 10 minutes later, and Kevon was still holding his sister.

"In those 10 minutes, Alecs stopped moving. Kevon probably didn't notice it because he was still angry," said Verda Colvin, the Supreme Court judge in Pape County, Alabama.

Alexis was rushed to hospital immediately and her death was strangled later that night.

Kivon was convicted of a felony murder, instead of murder, because he deliberately strangled his sister, which led directly to her death, according to the district attorney. After he was sentenced, Kevon cried: "I'm sorry."
