A village in the city of Mahalla, Gharbia, in the central Delta of Egypt, mourned the bodies of 17 people from the same family.

Forensic medicine identified the victims after conducting DNA analysis of the bodies.

Most of the victims belonged to the same family and were in a taxi returning home after attending their daughter's engagement ceremony, whose parents, uncle and most of her relatives died in the incident.

The Egyptian Interior Ministry has considered the incident a terrorist act and accused an armed group calling itself the movement of Egypt's "decisive" perpetrated.
