The Apple Watch has become very popular for easy wear, and sometimes it does not take part in iPhone.

Starting with the Apple Watch Series 3, there are two types of watch: GPS + Cellular for basic operations without a nearby iPhone, and GPS that needs to be in the iPhone range for any task Internet connection.

Both versions also store important information even when you don't connect to your iPhone, especially the credit card information on Apple Pay, where you can pay for purchases without the need for an iPhone.

You can also access any email, text messages, health information, and app data. Of course, if Apple Watch goes away, it could be a big problem. This is why we recommend activating the basic Apple Watch security features to protect all this data.

"Arab Technology News Portal" has published some basic security measures in Apple Watch, which help you protect your important data:

1. Set a strong passcode:

The best way to secure your Apple Watch and its data is to lock it with a passcode.Fortunately, if you're using Apple Pay, you'll have to set a passcode during setup. However, if you did not choose a passcode during setup to want to add a code later, just follow these steps:

Go to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
Choose My Watch, then press the Passcode option. You can either enter a simple four-digit code, or a more complex 5-10 digit version.

You can also set a passcode on the Apple Watch itself: Go to Settings, press the Passcode option, then choose Turn on passcode and enter a custom code.

2- Activate the activation lock feature:

The Apple Smartwatch supports a powerful security feature known as Activation Lock, designed to prevent anyone else from using your watch in case of loss or theft.

If this feature is active, anyone who finds or steals your Apple Watch will have to enter the Apple ID, and the password associated with it before they can use it, so no one without the right information can get any benefit from the device. The good news is that if you activate the Find My iPhone setting, the Activation Lock feature will be activated automatically.

To verify that the Activation Lock feature is activated, follow these steps on the iPhone that is paired with the watch:

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
Click the "My Watch" tab, then click your watch name at the top of the screen.
Press the (i), if you see “Find Apple Watch”, know that Activation Lock is on.

This feature increases the chances of you recovering your watch when it is lost or stolen, and even if you erase it remotely, Activation Lock can still prevent anyone from reactivating your device without your permission.

3 - Using the application (Find My iPhone) with the watch:

There are also additional layers of protection for your watch in the Find My iPhone app, where you can view a map showing the last known location of your watch, the GPS model will show the location of the last known WiFi connection. The GPS + Cellular model will show a more accurate location using the communication towers.

Even without an iOS device, you can also use the same Find My iPhone feature on icloud.com, by following these steps:

Launch the app online or iOS device and enter your Apple ID and password.
Tap the name of the watch to see its location on the map if it's connected to your iPhone or Wi-Fi network, or data, but if you don't see a location on the map, the watch will be offline.

Last step If you are sure that your watch has not been restored, you can erase the data on it with the Erase Watch feature, which will erase all the information stored on the watch remotely.
