The vocalist of the Salvadoran metal band Apes of God was shot dead this weekend in the municipality of Armenia (east of El Salvador) when the group offered a concert, as reported by the Attorney General's Office (FGR) . The incident was recorded in the La Cruz neighborhood.

The musician, César Canales, 27, was attacked in the middle of the performance. An individual shot with his gun at the singer, who fell fulminated. After being treated, the Red Cross reported that the artist had a shot in the head and that he had died in the act, so the efforts to revive him were useless. Apes of God was one of seven groups invited to the Green Metal Concert event , organized by the Salvadoran collective Armenia en Pie.

The following day, Wilber Isidro Orellana Martínez, 36, was arrested on charges of serious homicide as the alleged author of the crime of Canales, motivated by a pre-concert discussion , according to the first investigations.

After the terrible event, the band founded in 2015 by Rodrigo Salguero (guitar) and César Canales (vocalist) and that was part of the avant-garde of Latin death metal, announced its final dissolution , in a harsh statement in which it asks to be done justice, and where he says he no longer wants to belong to a "scene like this":

For its part, the Metal Invaders fanpage , which is dedicated to promoting groups of the genre, published: "Yesterday we witnessed an atrocity, we are totally shocked , it is somewhat unrealistic the loss of César Canales . We do not understand how a small altercation has turned into a homicide. Apes of God was offering a great show , we were all enjoying and that suddenly a schizophrenic takes the life of a young promise in the middle of the show is not worth it. The whole metal scene we mourn and join in his pain, "they added.
