After record cold weather: weather forecasters told when to expect a warming in Moscow
August 4 and 5 this year may be the coldest in Moscow in the last 70 years, forecasters said. They said that these days residents of the capital should also wait for short rains. However, experts predict that as early as Tuesday, August 6, summer heat will begin to return to the European part of Russia, and by the end of next week the daily temperature will return to the climatic norm of +20 ... + 25 ° С.
Sunday and Monday, August 4 and 5, will be the coldest in the central part of Russia over the past 70 years. This was stated by Evgeny Tishkovets, chief specialist of the Phobos weather center, in a conversation with RT.
“For August 4 and 5, temperatures so low have never dropped at least since 1948. Today is + 12 ... + 14 ° C in Moscow in the afternoon, on Monday night, in general, the temperature will drop to +3 ... + 8 ° C - just a real autumn "dubak", but in the daytime at best it is +11 .. .13 ° C and +9 ... 14 ° C in the Moscow region, ”he said, noting that there is a likelihood of transient rain.
According to Tishkovets, this was due to the action of a part of the cyclone, which "continues to provide an ultrapolar invasion." The temperature for this time of year is below the norm by 7-9 ° С, the forecaster stressed.
The air temperature on August 4-5 is more in line with the second half of September, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist of the Moscow Meteorological Bureau, told a RT interview. Nevertheless, according to her data, thermometers will show + 14 ... + 16 ° С these days, and this “is unlikely to override the record”.
“According to all calculations, the same Monday will be as cold, and, maybe, even colder due to the night temperature. That is, the temperature will also be within + 14 ... + 16 ° С, ”she said.
Marina Makarova, chief specialist of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told RT that this cooling is associated with a large number of clouds and the arrival of cold air from the north.
“The air cannot warm up. Usually, when air comes from the north, the air mass begins to warm up. This time it does not happen, because, as we say, the cyclone was stationary over the territory, and it circled over European Russia, therefore the addition of cool air and its inability to warm up occurred, ”she explained.
Makarova stressed that the temperature continues to remain abnormally low, but with each subsequent day it will be less and less different from the climatic norm.
“Tomorrow we will have another cool day, when the temperature will be about 7 ° C behind the norm. Tuesday, too, but less cool. Starting from Wednesday, the anomaly will be reduced, and it will be possible to say that the weather will be close to the normal climatic norm, ”the forecaster added.
Note that the anomalous cooling was established in the European part of Russia in July. According to the Hydrometeorological Center, this month was the coldest since 1985.
“From the first days of the month, the air temperature was below normal. Repeatedly recorded records of cold. And as a result, the average monthly temperature gave a rate of almost 1.5 ° C. The last time such a cold mid-summer was here in 1985, ”says the website of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.

"Under the sign of summer heat"
According to the Phobos Center, summer heat to the European part of Russia will begin to return in the middle of the week.
“Summer will return to the capital. Already on Tuesday, inclement cyclones will leave the central part of European Russia, ceasing to supply cold arctic air there. In the middle of the week, together with an increase in atmospheric pressure, clouds and rain will become less, and the sun's rays will begin to warm up the air masses actively, ”the center's website reports.
Tishkovets also spoke about the warming coming next week.
“West-east transfer of air masses will start, which will bring us the first portion of Atlantic heat, and accordingly, we will start to get out of this arctic well. On Tuesday night + 6 ... + 11 ° С, in the afternoon already + 15 ... + 20 ° С. And the environment will continue to pass under the sign of moderate, but still summer heat, ”he said.
Tishkovets allowed that by Thursday the air could warm up to + 25 ° С. However, the forecaster added that this week “there will be transient local rains of varying intensity every day.”
The chief specialist of the Moscow Weather Bureau, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, said that the warming will come after the arrival of the southern cyclone, which will also change the nature of the rains - they will become more prolonged.
“9-10 numbers are expected to yield the southern cyclone, with it the rains are no longer small, but more prolonged and heavy. This same cyclone will bring us warmth, and, most likely, the second half of the month will be with a higher temperature than the first half of August, ”she said.
