A high-level source at the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities said that the tomb and mummies of King Tutankhamun in the western part of the historic city of Luxor are at risk because of the large number of visitors and the inappropriate climate of the tomb to keep the mummy in a bad condition.

The source revealed that the mummy of King Tutankhamun remains inside his tomb in Luxor, and is not listed until today within the monuments and mummies that will be transferred from their sites to display the halls of the Grand Museum in Giza, or the Museum of civilization in Fustat. He also expressed his hope that the mummy will be transferred for restoration and preservation in an appropriate environment. The conservation of mummies requires a hall equipped with special materials to help preserve mummies and organic materials. He added that "it is difficult to carry out repairs to the mummy, inside the cemetery, which lies in the Valley of the Kings west of Luxor, because of the risks surrounding the process in the event of an inappropriate environment.

The source warned that the tomb of King Tutankhamun will be damaged if it remains open for the visit, especially in light of expectations of an increase in the number of tourists coming to the country during the new tourist season. He said the mummy and tomb of King Tutankhamun would remain in danger, and that danger would remain as long as the cemetery remained open to tourists.
