The French producer and DJ Philippe Zdar died at the age of fifty after he fell out of a window. The artist was part of the Cassius dance duo, which was also successful in the Netherlands.

His agent makes the news known to French media and announces that it is an accident, reports The Guardian .

Zdar, born as Cerboneschi, has formed the Cassius duo with Hubert Blanc-Francard since 1996. They released four albums.

From their debut 1999 came the hits Cassius '99 and Feeling For You . Artists such as Ghostface Killah and Pharrell Williams collaborated on follow-up albums. Cassius' newest album is released this Friday.

The producer collaborated solo with Kanye West, The Beastie Boys and Jay-Z.

Various fellow artists have since shared memories and expressed their condolences to their relatives. The Australian electro band Cut Copy calls Zdar an "original and unique talent whose energy and generosity will be missed"
