The slogan "Behind every victory are the mothers of champions" very capaciously reveals the themes of the new project Art Pictures. One phrase gives rise to a clear picture in the mind of a potential viewer and generates certain expectations: this series, of course, about women who have been bending their backs for the sake of the child’s sporting success. Those who donate a lunch break to take the child to classes; they spend hours on duty at the coach’s office and come together in groups with others, just like mothers, to form societies of interest with almost family ties.

The picture is familiar to everyone and therefore recognizable. And yet, as it turned out, topical. The idea of this series, in general, he himself methodically suggested to producers during the filming of “Young Men”: filmmakers came for the morning shift and watched those future champions' mothers running out of the ice palace and with one hand dragging the child, and the other - hockey ammunition. The project was given a green light, and the theme of moms-cheerleaders, mom-trainers, mom-martyrs and torturers stretched through it with a red thread - so that the expectations of the audience will be fully justified.

Of course, the story of endless training, backstage intrigues and scandals at parents' meetings would hardly have interested the audience. And because the main conflict is built around the personal drama of the main character.

Vera Gordeeva, a 17-year-old swimmer, has “an excellent feeling of water” that allows her to win in competitions, a young man, just as handsome as an athlete, and a trainer mother - the overly strict and indecently cruel heroine of Irina Rozanova. Alla Gordeeva’s daughter seems to love her, but much more she loves her dream - to make a girl an Olympic champion - and seeks her by hook or by crook.

Romantic relationships and meetings with the father are allowed to Vera as long as they provide her with positive emotions that will be useful for her. Well, if an athlete became pregnant (a non-scary spoiler - it happens almost immediately), the child becomes part of a plan for winning a medal.

Pregnant Vera on the hormonal peak wins the European Championship and sets a new world record. On the same day, the girl's patience cracks, she collects things and escapes from an overly caring parent. In another city, in the apartment of the only friend, all the faithful, unhappy heroine washes her face ... and emerges from the water already 15 years older (the first, but not the last reference to "Moscow Doesn't Believe in Tears"). Now she coaches her 15-year-old son.

For over twenty episodes, Nova Vera (Ekaterina Vilkova) will face the mother intruding into her life and try to unravel the intricate love triangle with the participation of first love (Pavel Trubiner) and her son's friend (Ivan Grishenkov).

The conflict of fathers and children in this series is also fulfilled by the storyline of a timid boy from an eastern family, who goes to boxing at the behest of his father (so as not to behave like a woman), and secretly reads notes at night. His comrade, awkward and stout, the mother, by contrast, supports in all endeavors. She personifies a different type of parent — blindly believing in the child’s ability.

The creators of the series intertwined several important themes and independent genres in it (however, they themselves characterize the result as “dramedies with a dramatic slant”). And, surprisingly, they did it very harmoniously.

The viewer is allowed to look at the same situation from different angles. There are no negative characters in their usual sense - the actions of any character can, if not be accepted, then at least understand. It is the refusal of cinematographers from the division of the serial world created by them into white and black and the desire to bring it closer to real life makes the “Mom of Champions” attractive to the viewer. And different ages.

Already, it can be argued that the JTS has found a profitable replacement for the same “Youth”, with a fanfare gone from the screens in February. The same popular okolosportivnaya theme, the same intensity of passion. But the result seems to be even better and more interesting.
