Forces have found the body of a mother and her son in Tenerife. The two were discovered in the afternoon in a cave near the municipality of Adeje, said the police unit Guardia Civil.
The cause of death is still unclear. A participation of the family father in the death of the two is not excluded, said a justice spokesman for the news agency dpa.
The father had been arrested on Tuesday evening in an apartment in Adeje, police said. Shortly before, passers-by had picked up another son of the couple - the boy is said to have cried and been in shock.
The online edition of the newspaper El País reported, citing local authorities, that the five-year-old had told the police that the father had brought the entire family to the cave and brutally attacked their mother and two children there. According to his own information, the boy managed to escape.
