A spokesman for the premier, Oleg Osipov, told reporters about this.

“Due to numerous public appeals to the Russian Prime Minister regarding the merger of the Alexandrinsky Theater and the Fyodor Volkov Theater and the creation of the First National Theater on their base, Dmitry Medvedev decided to suspend the relevant order of the Minister of Culture of Russia,” he said.

According to RIA Novosti, the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky reported that the two theaters united in a single theatrical complex.

At the same time, Medvedev instructed the head of the ministry to hold a broad discussion of the project with the participation of professionals and the public of St. Petersburg.
